Bob Chapra: More Than Four Decades of Movement Education

Bob Chapra’s perspective has been shaped by an unusually long engagement with the Feldenkrais Method.

He began practicing in 1977 and trained directly under Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais in 1981, placing him among the early American practitioners to learn directly from the method’s founder.

Bob also worked closely with Carola H. Speads, a senior assistant to Elsa Gindler, who selected him to help promote her work.

His career has consistently crossed boundaries between movement education, performance, rehabilitation, and professional learning.

He has worked with performers, taught at major educational institutions, contributed to professional development in hospital and rehabilitation environments, and developed programs addressing movement and balance for older adults.
